Alec is Walking!

Well, it's official! We now have two toddlers! About a week ago, Alec took about 8 steps...the most ever. Over the last week, he's moved from "taking steps" being his secondary mode of transportation, with crawling at lightning speed his first...to making actual walking his preferred method. It's so so cool to see both of them toddling around. I'm determined to get a video of it soon. And then, blogger and stupid slow computer willing, I will get it posted for all of you to enjoy!

Race for the Cure

Almost every year that we've lived in Arkansas, we've participated in the Susan G. Komen Ozark Race for the Cure. (Last year we didn't because the babies were only two weeks old...but that was the only year we missed.) We loaded up the twins, and headed out to the Promenade at 8:00am on Saturday. We did the 1K family fun walk.
The kids were troopers. They hung out in the stroller for two hours, while we did the walk and visited the vendors. Race for the Cure is sponsored by so many vendors, and many of them set up tents where they give away tons of free samples of their products. The kids hung out with Daddy outside of the Great American Cookie Co. sharing a sausage biscuit with him, some cereal and juice...while Mommy went around collecting the freebies. We got applesauce, granola bars, snacks, shower gel, baby wipes, coupons, and lots of other stuff.
The only time Emma got flustered was when everyone yelled "I AM THE CURE!" at the beginning of the race. Loud noises freak her out. Alec rode up front in the stroller, and bounced up and down to the music they had playing over the loud speakers. They even did great when the Chick-Fil-A cow came up to greet them. It was a fun morning!
This is an event and a cause that is so near to our hearts. Aaron's mother, Wanda, is a breast cancer survivor. She was diagnosed when we were freshmen in college, and underwent a full round of treatment including surgery and chemotherapy. It was a rough time for her, and of course, the whole family. But I think I can speak for all of us when I say that God was very near to all of us every step of the way, and we give him thanks and glory for her victory! We celebrate her, and the many other women that we know who have been touched by breast cancer. We are so very grateful to have her in our lives! We love you, Mom! We love you, G'ma Wanda!

Gettin' Ready for Dixie Dude!

Slewfoot Sue

Little Buccaroo

Well, the kids have been practicing riding their pony...gearing up for our annual Davis Family Reunion at Dixie Dude Ranch in Bandera, TX. Today, I decided they needed to be like a real cowboy and cowgirl, so I pulled out the hat. How cute are they?!

I doubt they'll actually ride horses this year, since neither of them likes to be still for very long...and the other reason being that they are both as fair as I am. Fifteen minutes in the sun and I'm burnt, so I don't want to risk that for them...even though I fully plan on having us all slathered in SPF 50 for the duration of the trip. : )

Reunion is June 18-21st this year, and we are all looking forward to it!

...and Bunny Alec!

Reading some of our Easter cards, after opening our Easter baskets.
Happy Easter to all! May you fully realize how long, how high,
how wide and how deep is the love of our Lord Jesus!

First Birthday

Well, I have been trying to get the first birthday pics uploaded to Blogger, but for some reason, it is not cooperating with me. I was able to get all of the good pics uploaded to my facebook, so here is the link to the public album. It's probably better this way, because there are so many pictures.

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=71211&id=543072123&l=68c9f069a8

Here you will find pictures from our trip to Texas: their party there, the babies dedication, and other random pics while in Goliad and also, new pics from their party here at home last weekend.

I still can't believe that they are one whole year old. I think about all that we were doing at this time last year...bringing Alec home and going back and forth to the NICU to see Emma. We were in the midst of a lot of overwhelming circumstances. Bringing one new baby into the world is like that, but bringing twins, and one that had to stay in the hospital, no less...was definitely a lot to swallow.

Looking back, Aaron and I are amazed at the peace that God gave us through that time and the first several months as we learned through all of the challenges how to be parents of two tiny new people. We have been so blessed to have our twins. Yes, it is twice the work. Yes, it is twice the snot (especially right now...they both have ear infections and I'm feeling under the weather too) and poop and laundry. But it is also twice the smiles, twice the giggles, twice the wonder of discovery, and twice the love...and it is so totally worth it!

I already miss some of the babyness, but I look forward to new stages that will be filled with joy and laughter, and another year of blessings!

Please Bear With Me

Hello, faithful blog followers! As you know, Saturday was Alec and Emma's first birthday, and the last few weeks have been extremely busy and filled with lots of fun and wonderful things. I have lots of pictures and info for everyone, but it's going to take me a little while to get it all posted. Especially since it's been taking FOREVER to get pictures posted lately, and also because I'm trying to do this while getting the house cleaned up and doing an inordinate amount of laundry. I will do my best to get some detailed posts up in the next few days...if my computer will cooperate!

The adults' German chocolate cake from Halepaska's

Alec's cake

Emma's cake

Emma is checking out all of the presents. They were naked,
just in case the cake-smashing got out of hand.

Waiting for cake.

Having fun at our party.

Playing with a balloon.

Uncle NuNu is so hilarious!
