Church in the Park

Last Sunday, we had church at Blowing Springs Park in Bella Vista. Here are a few pictures of the kids.

We had a fun time out at the park. We got to play in the little spring and the waterfall, see friends and eat yummy food.

In other news, Alec and Emma have been asking me to take them to see family. They've been saying "Momma...go bye byes...go see MoMo or PaPa or Aric" (and seriously, you could insert any family member...they've asked me to take them to see them. ) This makes me happy and sad. Happy that they love their aunt and uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents and cousins. But really sad that I have to tell them that they are all too far away for us to go see them today.

They've also insisted on naming everyone in our nightly prayers. Usually we just say "bless Momma, Daddy (they add "at work"), Alec, Emma and our family and friends" (because there are a lot). But the last few nights, they don't let me say Amen until they've named off several people from the following list: PaPa, MoMo, Alex, Aric, NuNu, GiGi, Abuela, Mimi, Papa James, Nana, Chrissy, Kylie. So, if you're feeling extra blessed this week...it's because Alec and Emma are deliberately praying for you!

They're going to be napping for probably another hour, so I need to get crackalackin' with some housework.

Playset!

Last weekend, Aaron and our good friend, Will, put together the playset...mostly. There are a few small hardware pieces that they ran out of. So, I will go to Lowe's and get the washers, etc and he can add the swings and crossbar to the swing beam. The fort, slide, picnic table and monkey bars are good to go. The kids are LOVING having a "playground" in their backyard...and so am I!!! This morning we went out and played and put down a blanket in the playhouse and sang songs and had a snack at the picnic table. It was awesome. Hot, but awesome! A big huge thank you to PaPa and MoMo Davis for helping us give the kiddos a really cool new toy that will give us years of enjoyment! Here are some pictures of the playset:

SPF (Splash Park Fun)

These are a little blurry, but they're from this morning when we met up with fellow twinmom, Carey and her girls, Casey and Lundyn. Casey is the only one who really likes to run through the sprinklers. Alec, Emma and Lundyn would rather walk the perimeter, dab a hand or foot in one of the small sprinklers, or sit on towels and have snacks and juice. :-) Either way, we had a blast! We thought the weather was going to be much warmer this morning...but it ended up being slightly overcast and mild. Here are a few pictures of our munchkins:

4th of July Weekend

For the long weekend, we went to Enid to see my folks. We had a great visit, even though it rained...and rained...and rained. We got in a little after 7 on Friday evening, had dinner and then my sister, Christina gave Alec a haircut (don't worry, the curls are still intact!), Emma a bangs trim (despite a rather outrageous amount of screaming), and Aaron a trim.

Saturday, we hung out around the house. Our big adventure for the day was going to Walmart to get some things to make 4th of July goodies. Dad did a shrimp boil that night, which was super delicious. Kylie and I decorated pretzel sparklers while the twins took a nap.

Sunday, we all went to Leonardo's Discovery Warehouse. It is a hands-on art and science museum, and amazingly enough...it's in Enid! There is an indoor museum and an outdoor area called Adventure Quest with the world’s largest community built outdoor playground. We couldn't do the outdoor part because of the rain, but the kids still had a blast inside. They got to explore a flight tower, a cockpit, some space memorabilia, look at different dress-up outfits, "go shopping" in a supermarket, paint, color, sit on thrones, pretend to be a doctor/patient, build castles, play with trains, see a giant Mammoth tusk that was found in Enid, see lizards, turtles, and a chinchilla, go through space under a blacklight, climb ladders, crawl through tunnels, and explore some different scientific phenomena. It was just as interesting and fun for the adults as it was for the kiddos.

Dad grilled burgers and hotdogs that evening and Kylie and I decorated a flag cake. We drove out to see the fireworks at 9pm, and waited and waited...along with a bazillion other people to find out that, even though the paper said the show was "on," the website said that the show was postponed a week. BUMMER! Monday, we returned home after breakfast...and spent the rest of the day vegging out. None of us got much sleep over the weekend, because Alec and Emma were suffering allergies brought on by my mom's old, fat cat, Charlie. (Sorry Mom, just stating the facts.) We love Charlie, but man, he sure does a number on me and the kids. I sneeze all day and get itchy eyes. They get gallons of snot and cough all night...thus the no sleeping part. It's worth it, to be with family. I just need to remember to start the kids on Claritin a few days before we go next time...and maybe me too. I'll post pics in the next post, but I'm on my way to a power nap right now. Actually got up at 6 to run this morning, and am totally wiped out now. The kids are about asleep, so I think I will too.
